 Shayne Wasden

Shayne Wasden was born July 23, 1968. He attended and graduated from Meadowview Christian in 1987. Wasden received his B.S. in Social Science degree from Auburn University in 1992 and his M.S. in Education Administration from Troy in 1998.

While at Auburn (1987-90), he played wide receiver and was named to the Knoxville News-Sentinels Freshman All-SEC Team in 1988. Wasden earned three letters while there and played in three bowl games for the Tigers.

His career started at Georgiana High School in 1992 as an assistant coach. The next year he moved up to the head coaching position. In two seasons his Bulldogs went 23-2 finishing both regular seasons undefeated before falling in the playoffs.

In 1995, Wasden accepted the head coaching job at Opp High School. He remained with the program for five years before moving on to Eufaula in the fall of 2000. His 2003 Tigers finished with another undefeated regular season and an 11-1 overall record. They were ranked number one in Class 5A at the end of the regular season.

Wasdens would leave the high school ranks following the 2003 season to join the coaching staff at Troy. He was a familiar face to Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney who, as an assistant coach at Auburn University, coached Wasden. Assistant head coach Shayne Wasden begins his 10th season on the Troy staff in 2013. Wasden coaches Troys outside receivers, special teams and coordinates the highly successful walk-on program.

In his 11 seasons as a high school head coach, Wasdens teams posted a record of 91 wins and 34 losses and advanced to the postseason playoffs 10 times.

Coaching comes naturally to the Wasden family. Shaynes father, Bobby Wasden, coached high school football for more than 35 years. His brother Tommy, a former Trojan, also coaches at the high school level.
